Split Scale is the debut collaborative album from Berlin-based composers Brüder Selke and Midori Hirano. Conceptually anchored in the Western musical scale, each of the album’s eight tracks corresponds to a specific note—A through G—forming a cyclical exploration of pitch, harmony, and emotional resonance. Combining classical instrumentation with ambient electronics, Split Scale weaves piano, cello, and synthesizer into expansive, cinematic soundscapes. Through a process of musical exchange and reinterpretation, the album unfolds as a dialogue between structure and spontaneity, minimalism and richness, capturing the subtle tension between order and expression.
