Geneviève Galarneau

Winner of the Comórtas Amhránaíochta Sean-nós in Oireachtas Gaeilge Cheanada for 2021, Geneviève holds a Master’s Degree in Folklore and Ethnomusicology from Indiana University with a focus in Irish traditional song and folklore.

Geneviève has learned songs and singing craft from dozens of celebrated and award-winning sean-nós singers across Ireland. She has been a featured singer for John Whelan’s “Whelan’s Master Sessions,” Srùbag Seisean, Cork Yarnspinners, Mois de la Langue Bretonne/Seachtain na Gaeilge seisiún, and at Portland’s monthly song event, Oíche na n-Amhrán. She has given demonstrations and workshops at Cascadia Irish Music Week, Galway Bay Irish Festival, and Bellingham Irish Festival. Geneviève is currently studying with Brian Ó hÁirt through the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Grant to improve her Irish, understanding of dialect and regional poetics in singing. She serves on the board of Oregon’s Mícheál Ó Domhnaill branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann.

Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin

Eoghan Ó Ceannabháin is a Dublin-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. His musical roots are in sean-nós singing - the style of his father - and he grew up listening to the likes of Sorcha Ní Ghuairim, Seán ‘ac Dhonncha, Colm Ó Caoidheáin and other greats from the tradition. He is also influenced by folk singers from the English language tradition such as Liam Weldon, Thomas McCarthy and Luke Kelly.

Eoghan is a member of the Dublin based band Skipper’s Alley. He worked with Mary Ann Kennedy from Scotland and Ruth Keggin from the Isle of Man on their Aon Teanga: Un Chengey album (2015), which explored the musical and linguistic ties between the Gaelic languages of Ireland, Scotland and the Isle of Man. He also collaborates with Clare fiddle and viola player Ultan O’Brien. Their début album Solas an Lae won best album at the RTÉ folk awards in 2021.
