Delighted to welcome Jonny Dillon down south to celebrate the release of his new album "A New Directive from the Bureau of Compulsory Entertainment", coming out on All City this March. Equally thrilled to have Roslyn Steer supporting on the night.
Jonny Dillon
Better known for his analogue electronic music productions as ‘Automatic Tasty’, Jonny Dillon’s debut acoustic LP ‘Songs For A One-String Guitar’ garnered universally ecstatic reviews upon release in 2019 on the independent Irish label All-City.
Picking up exactly where he left off with that release, this new chapter is another expansive exploration of the sonic possibilities of his chosen instrument.
Recorded with customary skill by renowned producer John ‘Spud’ Murphy in Dublin’s Hellfire Studio, Jonny’s playing once again find its true expression in a beautifully crafted sound world that fits these delicate compositions like a glove.
While informed in large part by the world of Irish traditional music along with that of primitivism and the American Spiritual, Jonny’s highly individual style is also born of a personal attempt to give voice to an inner landscape, from the experience of sorrow and loss to the promise of redemption and renewal. His is a tender new folk sound that resonates with feeling for a complicated modern world.
Roslyn Steer
Roslyn Steer is a Cork-based music maker. She sings songs in circles. Her music has been described as haunting and melancholic but she’s never seen a ghost and would hate to see you sad. Other people say it’s beautiful.
Roslyn's latest release "Gamhna Sa Cheo" is a beautiful album of atmospheric pump organ and double bass.
“bearing nothing but songs from a unique and personal perspective, Steer gets lost in her performance, and brings everyone with her…A hidden gem” thethinair.net
