First it was the pioneering legend Wendy Carlos, then the iconic Daft Punk, and now with TRON: Ares, Nine Inch Nails take the helm to complete a hallowed digital trinity to staggering effect. The jagged, ultra physical EBM and synth-wave of ‘As Alive As You Need Me To Be’ growls and sparks, with steamy closeup vocals focussing on every exhalation. It’s a cross between technological horror and seductive devotion that hits the sweet spot for hair-raising sci fi action.
