First-ever vinyl reissue of this seminal compilation of early California hardcore punk, originally released in 1983 on the New Underground label. Featuring iconic bands such as the Germs, Minutemen, Sin 34, and Shattered Faith, alongside more obscure and experimental acts like Doo-Dooettes, Modern Torture, and Tone Deaf. The release includes artwork by Raymond Pettibon and a fully remastered audio transfer. Packaged as a limited-edition colored vinyl (red or yellow variants), it comes with a double-sided insert containing liner notes by Susan Swear.
“Once you listen to the bands on ‘Life Is Ugly So Why Not Kill Yourself,’ and the other two volumes: ‘Life Is Beautiful So Why Not Eat Health Foods’ and ‘Life Is Boring So Why Not Steal This Record,’ the listener will agree that these are some of the best punk compilations of their time. No punk record collection is complete without these albums… Now, thanks to Radiation Records, all three Life Is compilations are being re‑released. Almost forty years after their initial release, the Life Is compilations are the perfect soundtrack for the chaotic world we are currently living in.” — Susan Swear
