Remarkably, Allen embarked on this project just two days after celebrating his 100th birthday. Recorded in Philadelphia in May 2024, the album features seven original compositions that blend cosmic jazz with elements of blues and big band, reflecting Allen's extensive musical journey. The title track, "New Dawn," features the distinctive voice of Neneh Cherry, adding a soulful dimension to the piece. The album is a testament to Allen's enduring creativity and his deep connection to the Afrofuturist legacy of Sun Ra.
