A droning, rhythm-driven album that is so much more than just folk.
In Theatre, Anna Mieke re-defines Irish folk music and shares her fondest memories of nostalgia, summer, and warmth. She wrote the album through her unique point of view, and to her, this album is the colour terracotta.
It gives the listeners a feeling of an expanse, of openness. I really enjoyed including more opportunities for the band to improvise in instrumentals. The album gave Anna opportunities to experiment with a wider variety of instruments, and making it one of the strongest contemporary folk albums in recent years.
