DOSE presents: an opportunity to get your breath back. Spend a Saturday evening with us - atmospheres, drones, whispers and warbles will be delivered by a selection of exploratory musical creation specialists. This August, our triple bill takes the stage at Cork’s inquisitive TEST SITE.
TEST SITE is a collaborative, urban research project based on Kyrl’s Quay, Cork City. Co-created by Ailbhe Cunningham + Aoife Desmond, the project works at the intersection of art, architecture and ecology. Engaging with natural and built heritage, the project uses site-specific architectural interventions, film/performance work, discursive talks and live events to respond to a vacant ‘island’ site on Kyrl’s Quay, Cork City Centre.
Seán Being is a Dublin-born musician living in Lisbon. His primary output is as a solo producer and songwriter, working with short, voice-focused songs informed by contemporary pop and ambient music.
Seán’s practice is centred around DIY music communities in Ireland and Portugal. Recent work includes FAUX WINDOW—a mini-album released on Dublin label wherethetimegoes in May—and an hour-long mix of unreleased extracts, home recordings and collaborations with friends, aired on NTS Radio in June.
Frog of Earth is a music project by Irish multidisciplinary artist Mel Keane. The project draws from folk music, nature, and technology and utilises a variety of digital, analogue and acoustic tools. The current focus of the project is polyphonic singing and plucked strings.
HowlBux is the project of musicians and composers Elaine Howley and Irene Buckley, who create atmospheric textures with ghosted vocals and synths. Sometimes pop, sometimes improvisational and exploratory, HowlBux creates atmospheres from the serene and hypnotic to the dense and immersive.
