Playing guitar and writing songs since the age of fifteen, Caoilian Sherlock is well seasoned through years in rock and roll bands such as The Shaker Hymn and The Tan Jackets. He released his debut EP 'The Faraway' under the moniker Saint Caoilian in 2017, on the back of a year of prestigious support shows with Roy Harper, Ryley Walker, Sean O'Hagan, and a tour around Ireland with Joan Shelley and Nathan Salsburg. Coinciding with this tour were shows at Body & Soul, Another Love Story, Sounds From A Safe Harbour, Quiet Lights and It Takes A Village Festivals.
What began as a purist folk project moved into realms of experimentation as he started to record mountains of demos from the many homes he lived in Cork City over a tumultuous few years.
In 2019, he put together a live band of the best local musicians called The Big Children, to begin recording his first solo album with influences from as far and wide as Peggie Seeger, Willie Nelson, Bill Withers to hip hop producer Dilla. Finally arriving at a place of comfort with his sound, he released a some singles, recorded with Brendan Fennessy (O Emperor). ‘Shades Of You’, ‘Sucker For Love’ and ‘Don’t Let Me Forget About Her’ are charming lo-fi pop songs with infectious choruses. Straddling breezy nonchalance with the fatally self-conscious, four tracks from those recording sessions were released on the ‘Big Child’ EP in 2021.
